Hour of the Wolf (1968)

Among Bergman’s films I watched, the ones I like most were set on Fårö Island, including Persona (1966), Hour of the Wolf (1968), Shame (1968) and the Passion of Anna (1969). I watched Hour of the Wolf again, only for the pronunciation of Swedish. Unfortunately-though, naturally, I can understand nothing without English subtitle.

Again, the quotations are from the official website of Ingmar Bergman.

Johan: Om en timme eller så är det dag, och sen kan jag sova.

Johan: In an hour or so it will be daylight, and then I can sleep.

Johan: En minut är egentligen en väldig tidsrymd. Den här börjar nu. Tio sekunder. Dessa sekunder. Ser du så länge de varar. Ja, minuten är inte slut än. Nu äntligen, nu är den borta.

Johan: A minute can seem like an eternity. It's beginning now. Ten seconds. Oh, these seconds. How long they last. The minute isn't up yet. Oh, now it's gone.

Alma: Är det inte så att gamla människor som har levt en hel livstid tillsammans börja likna varandra? De får till slut så mycket gemensamt att, icke bara tankarna deras, men ansiktena deras får samma uttryck.

Alma: Isn't it so that all people who have been living together all their lives begin to resemble each other? In the end, they have so much in common that not only their thoughts but also their faces take on the same expression.
